Care

Brew just as you would with paper or cotton. Once you’re done, carefully lift the filter from your brewer, unfold it, and discard the grounds. Rinse thoroughly under running water, but don’t wring. Fold it back into shape and lay it flat to dry completely before the next brew.

Like cotton filters, silk can naturally take on the flavors and oils of the coffees you brew. A quick rinse after each use keeps it fresh and ready, but if you like to switch between different roasts, give it a weekly deep clean. You’ll find easy how-to tips on our FAQ page.

Who knew silk could brew?

We knew there had to be something better. Silk in its unaltered state is surprisingly tough. And since our silk is minimally processed—free of bleach, dyes and metallic weighting agents—you get nothing but the pure performance of silk itself.

FAQ

We’ve engineered this silk to be tough—denim-tough—but without all the dye baths and metal salts. The secret? Silk doesn’t need help being strong. Before it’s ever glossed up for fashion, it’s already a natural powerhouse. What you’re looking at here is silk in its wild form.

Our silk is food-grade and completely safe for contact with coffee and water. It’s made from 100% unbleached mulberry silk—no metallic weighting, no dyes. Unlike traditional silk processed for the fashion industry, ours is cleaned and woven straight from the cocoon, with minimal intervention. It’s also pesticide-free—after all, why would we use chemicals on such delicate creatures? Mulberry silkworms are highly sensitive to additives, even in the leaves they eat, which means the silk they produce is as pure and natural as it gets. Just be sure to give your filter a quick clean before the first use.

Just like cotton filters, silk performs best when paired with one type of bean or roast. You can absolutely switch between coffees—just give your filter a deep clean before doing so, especially if you’re particular about flavor. For the best clarity and consistency, we recommend dedicating one filter to each bean or roast profile.
